What You Will Study

Part One

  • Module 1: Pastoral Leadership Styles and Skills

    This module builds an understanding of the Leadership Challenge: Manager Vs Leader and examines relevant leadership theories, styles and behavior. It covers the reason why leadership styles and behavior may be different in a given situation. Topics studied include traits of a church leader, team leadership, and charismatic leadership, ethical, spiritual and inspirational leadership. Servant leadership, transformational, leadership substitutes and neutralizers will be explored.

Part Two

  • Module 2: Communication: A Tool for Effective Ministry

    This course develops the potential for good written and verbal communication. Methods and media that can be used in church communication will be studied. The nature and purpose of communication, functions and skills of an effective communicator and features of effective communication will also be explored. The emphasis is on building further skills for sermon delivery, presentations and briefing. The essence of the spoken word, body language in delivery of sermons and the impact on presentation and briefing sessions is explored. The mechanics of delivering speeches is also covered.

  • Module 3: Managing the Human Resource

    The module provides a clear explanation on the importance of human resource management and discusses ways for improving the management of the human resource in the church. It provides insight into the recruitment process and discusses the need for succession planning. The need for training and development and the methods of on-the-job training and off-the-job training will be covered.

  • Module 4: Church Financing: What You Need To Know

    This module explains the need for better financing and investment decisions in the church. It provides knowledge on the appropriate sources of financing for short, medium and long term. The course provides knowledge that the financial planning process helps to reveal cash surpluses and/or cash deficits thereby enabling finance managers to take action that can help exploit the opportunities available.

Course Registration and Commencement Dates

This course can be purchased at any time either on outright purchase or membership subscription. Courses are launched in October, January, April and July each year. The deadline for payment of initial registration fees is as follows: Registration for October admissions opens on 1st November each year. Admission closes on 31st September each year. Registration for January admissions opens on 1st February each year. Admission closes on 31st December each year. Registration for April admissions opens on 1st May each year. Admission closes on 31st March each year. Registration for July admissions opens on 1st August each year. Admission closes on 30th June each year. Payment of Fees (in line with the payment plans) must be made latest by 23:59pm on the closing date for Registration

Duration

Our modules allow flexibility and ease of study because these have been designed to offer online learners the chance to study individual modules within scheduled time or at their own pace. This Bundle/Course run for a minimum of eight (8) weeks. A study period of 2-3 hours per week per module is recommended. The maximum period of study is one (1) year for online learners buying outright or studying under the membership scheme. Online Learners who are not able to complete the course for which they have been registered within the normal period may apply for extension of the period of study.
